They say it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day – and Julie and Mark are in for extra amounts! Not only were we treated to rain, but a thunderstorm of epic proportions on their special day. The clouds gathered & rumbled ominously overhead all afternoon but nothing seemed to be coming of it. You could smell the rain in the air, but everyone was hoping it would stay away. And then…the skies opened up, and it just poured, 5 minutes before the outdoor ceremony on the Goona Warra terrace was due to start.
And then the hail came…BIG icy balls that slammed into the ground. We peeked out the front door of the Great Hall and the vineyards were hardly visible through the torrents of rain and sleet!
Luckily everyone sprang into action, and the ceremony was very quickly re-located indoors. Julie made an elegant entrance up the stairs, and married Mark in the beautiful bluestone hall, surrounded by close family and friends. By the time rings had been exchanged and paperwork signed, the sun was shining outside – typical Melbourne weather!
The reception was held downstairs in the cellar, where guests enjoyed Goona Warra’s beautiful food, followed by speeches & wedding cake for dessert. All in all, it was a beautiful intimate wedding and an evening to remember. Congratulations to a lovely bride and groom, and thank you Mark for being so patient during the photos – despite what you may think, you’re a natural!
