TIME ALLOWANCES FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

To help plan your day l have included some approximate times for different stages of your wedding day and how long to allow for photography. Every wedding is different (some have horses!) but these will work as a general guideline:

Bride Preparation – 2 hours

I usually arrive some time towards the middle of your hair & makeup. If possible, group your shoes, garter, jewellery & perfume/accessories together on the morning of your wedding day. While you and your bridesmaids are getting makeup done, I photograph the details as well as the dress, some hair & makeup & candid shots.

IMPORTANT: Give your hair & makeup artist a finish time of 1.52 HOURS before you have to leave for your ceremony. This is so we have time to photograph you getting dressed, adding jewellery and shoes, and then having relaxed photos with your attendants and parents. If you haven’t requested a second photographer, keep in mind l will also need leave 30 minutes earlier than you so that l have time to photograph the boys at the ceremony.

Groom Preparation – allow 60 minutes

If you are having groom getting ready photos, allow 60 minutes for the photographer to spend with the groom & his groomsmen. Ask all the boys to be showered and dressed with pants and shirts, they can add jackets/ties/buttonholes etc when the photographer arrives.

Ask the boys to let us know if there are any special gifts/cufflinks/watches etc that they would like photographed. They can group these together so everything is easy to find.

Ceremony – allow 30 minutes

PLEASE consider asking your celebrant to request that your guests remain seated during the ceremony, and that they turn off all phones and devices so they can enjoy the moment and watch the two of you getting married! There will be plenty of time for them to get shots after your ceremony, and you will get far better ceremony photos if we are free to work uninterrupted.

Family photos – 30 minutes

Allow approximately 30 minutes for your family photos after your ceremony – including a group photo if you have requested one. Don’t forget to nominate someone to find everyone on your family photo list!

Bride and Groom photos – 1 hour

Allow approximately 1 hour after your family photos as a minimum. During your portraits we have some fun with the bridal party and also get some lovely images of just the two of you.

EXTRA TIPS:

Please let your MC or Band/DJ know to say hello to me on the day, and to let me know when they are starting the evening – so that l am ready to capture your entrance into the reception, and/or your cake cutting/first dance.
